ISEE

Overview:

The ISEE (Independent School Entrance Exam) is one of the ways to fulfill the entrance test admissions requirement for many private schools. There are three versions of the test depending on a student’s target grade level: lower for grades 5-6; middle for grades 7-8; and upper for grades 9-12. Because the ISEE may be taken only once in a six month period, there is typically time for only one test per admissions cycle. Parents can visit www.erblearn.org to schedule an exam through any local school’s set test dates. Otherwise, families can opt to test through prometric test administration sites as availability allows. The exam consists of the following sections:

  • Verbal: 60 questions in 16 minutes, testing synonyms, antonyms, analogies, logical reasoning, word does not belong.
  • Quantitative: 52 questions in 30 minutes, testing series, value comparison, geometry, arithmetic, fractions, percentage, algebra, exponents, etc.
  • (Break: 5 minutes)
  • Reading: 62 questions in 25 minutes, testing 40 passage-based questions and 22 vocabulary questions.
  • Mathematics: 64 questions in 45 minutes, testing ratios, probability, geometry, arithmetic, fractions, percentage, algebra, exponents, etc.
