Overview

The Graduate Record Exam (GRE) is a computer adaptive exam used in the graduate school admissions process. Along with breaks and a few research questions at the end, it is about 4 hours long and is comprised of three sections:

  • Analytical Writing: one 30 minute Issue Task and one 30 minute Argument Task
  • Quantitative Reasoning: Two 35 minute sections, which include problem solving and quantitative comparison questions
  • Verbal Reasoning: Two 30 minute sections, featuring sentence completions, synonym completions, and critical reading passages.
  • NOTE: One 35 or 30 minute unscored Quantitative or Verbal Reasoning section will be included as part of your regular length GRE.

The GRE is offered, by appointment, at any time during the year.
