Open Positions (May 2013)

Tutors - Sciences & Math and/or test preparation (Bethesda or McLean)

Part-time science and math tutors start at $30-$60 an hour depending on experience. We are looking for folks who would like to work at least 10 hours per week during busy seasons.

PrepMatters tutors can schedule meetings on weekdays or weekends (or mornings if you're so constituted). Ideal candidates will be comfortable working in a dynamic environment with a friendly, vibrant staff.

Candidates must:

  • have a bachelor's degree
  • Science applicants: be able to teach two (or more!) of the following: calculus, biology, chemistry, physics. A qualifying test in these areas is administered to all applicants.
  • Test prep applicants: be able to teach all areas of the SAT (math, critical reading, writing)
  • Have an honest expectation that they will be able to work for at least two years with PrepMatters.

Client Service Concierge / Administrator (McLean & Bethesda offices)

The McLean office is looking for a reliable and highly organized professional to join our team as a client service concierge/office administrator. The position starts immediately. Hours for the McLean position are Monday-Thursday from noon to 8:00 p.m. and Friday from noon to 5:00 p.m. Hours for the Bethesda position are Monday through Thursday from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

The primary responsibility of the client service concierge/administrator is to provide oversight for the administrative operation of the McLean or Bethesda office -- engaging the client in person or over the telephone, ordering and stocking supplies, compiling test prep notebooks, maintaining the practice test library, tidying the client lounge, and providing administrative liaison with the Bethesda office. The administrator will also train as a test proctor to assist with practice test administration. We strive for efficiency in process and excellence in product. Superior organizational skills and a strong aptitude for mastery of detail are essential.

The ideal candidate will have a college degree, a poised style of engagement, the ability to manage a fast-paced environment in a professional manner and an interest in working with educated and successful clients. Prior work experience in the field of education (secondary, higher education, test prep, proctoring exams) is a plus.
