PREPMATTERS INTRODUCES ACT DIAGNOSTIC TESTS TO AREA SCHOOLS
Bethesda, MD. March 3, 2008 - PrepMatters, a leader in standardized test preparation, academic tutoring and educational counseling in the Washington, D.C. Metropolitan area, announced that they will offer free ACT diagnostic testing to high schools in Washington, D.C. and Northern, VA area high schools.
The ACT diagnostic test, similar to the PSAT, is designed to help gage students' abilities on the ACT test. As the SAT vs. ACT debate continues in the college prep industry, PrepMatters saw a need to help area schools assist students in making informed decisions about the two college entrance tests.
"We understand that college admissions process is extremely stressful, for both parents and students," states Ned Johnson, founder and president of PrepMatters. "Many people do not realize that colleges weigh the ACT equally to the SAT. The ACT test is more straightforward and seems to cause less anxiety. We want to be sure that students know the difference between the tests to best plan their testing and preparation, and the ACT diagnostic test can help with that decision."
PrepMatters experienced a 300% increase in the number of students it prepared for the ACT from the 2005/2006 school year to the 2006/2007 school year. During that same time period, the number of SAT clients changed by only 7%.
In the last month, PrepMatters has offered the ACT diagnostic to Bethesda Chevy Chase High School and the French International School of Washington (Lycee Rochambeau). The results of testing proved to be successful with better than 400 students taking the test and many choosing to sign up for the spring ACT test. PrepMatters intends to offer their free testing ACT diagnostic testing services to interested high schools in the Washington, D.C. and Northern, VA area.
