Philosophy:
One of my goals is to help students realize that standardized tests need not be as daunting or mysterious as they are made out to be. No one has an inherent disadvantage on a test that can't be minimized or even eliminated through practice and knowledge of the test in question. I like to remind students that there is always more they can do to improve their performance on a test. I also believe in challenging students to see how to apply that resolve and forethought to other areas of their academic lives.
Bio:
John Jones has been tutoring at PrepMatters since 2001. He tutors students in the SAT, SAT II, PSAT, and ACT. Before entering the field of standardized test preparation, John had worked in financial services and earned his Series 6 and Series 7 licenses. His tutoring experience has also included work with the AmeriCorps National Service Program and the Boys and Girls Club of Maryland.
Mr. Jones is a graduate of Dartmouth College with a BA in Economics. He now lives in Silver Spring, MD.
