Philosophy:
The key to standardized tests is
not only knowledge of vocabulary, grammar,
mathematics etc... but also mastering test
taking skills. I believe every student has the
ability to improve his or her score through
diligent academic work (i.e., taking
challenging courses in school, reading for
pleasure, reading the newspaper, studying for
the test) and learning the tricks that most
standardized test questions employ. Through
one-on-one tutoring, I will help you arm
yourself with all the tools you need to achieve
your test goals.
Bio:
Born and raised in Montgomery
County, Carina graduated from The University of
Maryland Honors Program (GO TERPS!) with a
degree in Psychology. After surviving New York
City for one year, she relocated to San
Francisco, CA where she obtained her teaching
credential, worked as a classroom teacher, and
subsequently completed her Master's degree in
Education with a focus in Language &
Literacy. In addition to teaching in the U.S.,
Carina has also taught internationally in
Yerevan, Armenia. Carina keeps busy chasing
after her son and 2 cats, reading, playing
tennis, and
skiing.
