Tests:
PSAT, SAT, SSAT, ISEE, PRAXIS
Subjects: Literature &
Writing
Philosophy:
People like challenges-- except
when they expect to not surmount them. Given
familiarity with involved processes and the
confidence to use them, however, standardized
tests can be as enjoyable as a soccer game, a
video game or a Sudoku puzzle (pick your
poison). My goal as a tutor is to figure out
how each student learns best and what sets her
or him at ease: not only to discover the fun
but also, ultimately, to help positively
influence the student's idea of herself or
himself as a test-taker and a learner.
Bio:
Erin took her Praxis II Exam
while violently ill and her GRE while far from
home on Christmas Eve, so she knows something
about less-than-ideal conditions. She graduated
magna cum laude from the University of
Tennessee with a BA in Literature and studied
Secondary Education at the Johns Hopkins
University. She has worked as an ESL tutor, an
academic tutor and a volunteer public school
teacher; she now pursues an MA in Literature at
the American University while working toward
the solution of the problem of everything with
tenacity and meritorious good humor.
